Lignum Co. is a Melbourne based company that uses upcycled wood to create original tables, lamps, other furniture and miscellaneous house items. Each item is handmade and one of a kind. New items are added to the Collection on a monthly basis and can be found here on the website and will also be advertised through Instagram, so follow @lignum_co to keep up to date. Lignum Co. also does custom orders based upon previous works as well as individual customer designs.
Starting Out...
Hi, my name is Ryan and I live in Melbourne, Victoria. When I first moved down into my new house I found it challening to buy basic furniture without paying a fortunue, even when shopping at IKEA. So I decided to make my own instead.
After producing a number of items, I started to receive numerous requests from friends and even randoms for dining room tables, coffee tables, console tables, lamps and my lapboards (for those like me who struggle to eat off their lap!). After I thoroughly enjoying filling my house with new items, I decided to start making furniture for others at a high enough rate to make it viable for me to use my spare time, though low enough to be reasonably cheap and competitively priced with standard furniture bought from common stores.
Reason For Existing:
Simply put, I enjoy making furniture items and like being able to provide people with items at a reasonable price!
Why Choose Upcycled Products?
We are living in a day and age of consumption without regard for the environment. The activities of mankind have lead to more that half the worlds tree populations having been destroyed, particularly since the Industrial Revolution. So choose upcycled products as we attempt to minimize consumption and reclaim what we have lost.
Cost Transparency:
At the end of the day, Lignum Co. exists for the fun of making house items for people. There are no overhead costs and no over inflated prices. You are simply paying for the cost of producing the item along with the time and effort involved in collecting appropriate wood, dismantling, preparing and making the product. Into The Future:
Lignum Co. hopes to produce monthly items to add to the Collection which will be available for purchase and eventually when there is a large enough supply, head to market in the Melbourne region.
On top of this, Lignum Co. will be completing custom orders for individual customers as per their requirements. Pricing will be based on the same rates as items produced for the Collection.
